Loan Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to lead our loan accounting and financial reporting processes in the dynamic and fast-paced environment of FinTech, specifically within the LATAM consumer credit sector. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles, combined with a strategic mindset and familiarity with the financial regulatory environment in Latin America. This role will report directly to the Controller and play a critical part in shaping our financial strategy and operations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations related to consumer loan accounting including but not limited to the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, charge offs and provisioning, and revenue recognition
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings specific to the LATAM region.
• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and preparation of journal entries related to loan accounting
• Manage and ensure the accuracy of the internal loan management system
• Implement and optimize financial systems and technology to improve efficiency and provide strategic data analytics.
• Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation in the LATAM region, adapting company policies as necessary to maintain compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a fintech company.
• Comprehensive understanding of Mexican GAAP &
  IFRS
• Proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and loan transaction processing
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders
• Fluent in Spanish and English, with excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in financial software systems and advanced Excel skills. Experience with ERP systems is a plus (Oracle)
• Analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Proficient in SQL
