Level Description
‘Technician’ Leveling Guide consists of jobs that accomplish work through a specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, apprenticeship (craft, skilled and semi-skilled), and experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to manufacturing technician job profiles.

Market Summary
Proficiently and accurately sample and conduct visual inspection and laboratory testing of materials according to the appropriate standard test methods to ensure quality control of products at the point of production, shipping and arrival on the jobsite. Communicates and documents test results.

Impact
- Applies advanced technical knowledge of methods, regulations, equipment, systems, controls, procedures, and/or essential regulations to assigned work. May begin to serve as a technical lead on a shift or lead a portion of work.
- Independently prioritizes and executes responsibilities for a single technical area or group of related tasks, technical disciplines, or multiple advanced subject matter areas. May begin to provide guidance to others, helping them to interpret information and provide input on escalated decisions.

Communication
- Communication is internal and occasionally external to the area or department. Communications are largely around giving/receiving basic to more advanced technical information.
- Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior employees for direction or subject matter expertise.

- Regularly provides solutions to systemic and persistent issues for the work area. Demonstrates original and resourceful approaches to work situations including the resolution of complex challenges.

Knowledge
- Demonstrates comprehensive/advanced knowledge of most concepts, methods, terminology, codes, quality standards, and specialized job requirements.
- Demonstrates advanced interpersonal, analytical, and application skills;
understands more complex FMC procedures that may require interpretation. Often provides technical guidance to others in verbal and written format.
