To serve as chief writer for University Design and Publications, contributing news, feature and narrative articles to ODU channels, including ODU News and Publications. This person will also write, edit and proof copy for Monarch Magazine, as well as for web, print and advertising materials. This person also will work closely with faculty to publicize research and innovation.

Considerable knowledge of journalism, communications, marketing and/or technical writing. Considerable knowledge of grammar and usage and familiarity with Associated Press style. Demonstrated ability to edit, write and proof copy and to work and communicate effectively with others.

Level and type of experience
Considerable editing, writing and proofing experience.
Some experience working within brand guidelines, working on multiple projects simultaneously and providing excellent customer service.
Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Considerable professional writing and editing experience in a variety of styles and formats. Some experience writing about complex topics, including scientific research, grant awards or published studies. Prior experience in higher education. Familiarity with content management systems and project management software.
