The International Republican Institute (IRI) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit organization based in Washington D.C. IRI has been working in Mexico since 1994, conducting various governance programs aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and fostering greater trust in democratic systems of governance.

Contract Duration:
12 months with the possibility of extension

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, law, political science, administration, or related fields.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in international relations, government work, and/or civil society project management related to open government processes.
  • Practical experience in logistical coordination of events.
  • Experience working independently within diverse teams.
  • Advanced English and Spanish.

Primary Functions &
Responsibilities

Based in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon;
the State Associate supports the implementation of programs developed by IRI in Mexico:

  • Assist in the planning and organization of events and workshops.
  • Manage relationships with local vendors.
  • Coordinate agendas and topics with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Oversee local payments.
  • Convene various stakeholders, among other tasks.
  • Assist IRI/Mexico staff in coordinating and/or preparing travel schedules and attend meetings and activities during such visits.
  • Write weekly reports on activities conducted.
  • Collect information generated by local partners.
  • Monitor and update progress indicators and local program databases.
  • Develop indicator metrics and thematic and contextual analysis related to the program.
  • Interact with local partners and government authorities:
    Represent IRI professionally at seminars, workshops, and forums organized by program partners. Manage relationships and meetings between local government authorities and civil society actors with the IRI/Mexico team.

Other Responsibilities:

Work closely with IRI/Mexico's administrative department to monitor certain local program spending processes. Ensure and archive invoices and receipts.

QualificationsEducationRequired

Bachelors or better in Political Science or related field.
